MemphiSTEM is multi-year NSF-funded project involving STEM disciplines across campus.  Through “STEM” clubs and networking activities, support for undergraduate STEM research experiences, mentoring, tutoring, and STEM learning communities, Memphis STEM works to increase the number of students recruited, retained, and matriculated in STEM disciplines. Currently, MemphiSTEM provides tutoring services in math, physics, chemistry and engineering and supports 13 student-led organizations and five learning communities in Engineering, Biological Sciences, Nursing and Mathematics that impact approximately 260 students each year. In addition, MemphiSTEM supports a two-week refresher seminar (Math Bootcamp) make available to incoming first and second year U of M students to boost math skills, demonstrate links between math, science and engineering and broaden the knowledge of career opportunities in STEM fields.
