Facilities
The Communication Sciences Library is housed on the lower level of The School of Communication
Sciences and Disorders. The School is located in the medical center area near downtown
Memphis, at 807 Jefferson Avenue.
The collection includes books, journals, and video tapes focusing on Communication
Sciences and Disorders and related areas of interest, including special education,
linguistics, laryngology, otology, neurology, psychology, and sociology. There are
53 print journal subscriptions, approximately 5,400 book titles, and over 8,300 bound
volumes in the collection
The Library is a branch of the University of Memphis Libraries. All policies are in
accordance with University of Memphis Libraries Policies.
Journals, reference, and reserve materials do not circulate and may be used only in
the library.
A copy machine is available for patron use. Library patrons must use their University
of Memphis ID card to pay for copies. Funds may be added to ID cards at the School's
Business Office located on the first floor of the building by the main entrance.
There are three computer workstations in the library. These provide public access
to the catalog and other electronic resources, including databases for literature
searches and full-text electronic journals. There is no charge for printing.
During regular business hours, library staff will be available to answer library-related
questions and to instruct patrons in using the catalog and other electronic resources.
Lists of periodicals, videos, dissertations, ANSI Standards, and recent monograph
acquisitions are available to library patrons free of charge.
