Research Interests:

Boron isotope geochemistry of minerals, groundwater and soil. A recent interest is in developing a geochemical method for sourcing archaeological artifacts composed of chert.

Courses Taught:

1040 Physical Geology - Introduction to processes that form the rocks in the Earth's crust; the Earth's internal forces that make mountains and volcanoes; special emphasis on topics that impact the Mid-South, such as earthquakes.

3311 Mineralogy and Petrology - Classification and identification of minerals, igneous rocks, and metamorphic rocks in hand specimen and under the microscope. Geological occurrence and use of minerals. Genesis and occurrence of igneous and metamorphic rocks.

4332/6332 Introduction to Geochemistry - the application of the principles and techniques of chemistry to the study of problems of the Earth, with special emphasis on global phenomena.

7220 Geochronology - the study of the relative and isotopic age of rocks, minerals, fossils and groundwater.
