Getting Your Program Online
set cell vertical height Many departments at the University of Memphis are moving their undergraduate and/or graduate programs online to better serve our students. These programs do not replace face-to-face programs, but they supplement them to extend the reach of the University of Memphis. Our online courses are expected to provide the same rigor as "on-the-ground" programs.

When your department is ready to consider moving a program to online delivery, please contact Vicki Murrell, Assistant Dean of Distance Education, at 901-678-2877 or by email at vmurrell@memphis.edu so that we can meet to discuss the project.

The process of getting your program approved involves:
  • Completion of the Online Program Proposal. This will need to be signed by the department chair, the college dean, and Dr. Dan Lattimore, Vice-Provost of Extended Programs.
  • Submission of a proposal packet to TBR for approval. The department will need to submit electronically to vmurrell@memphis.edu a Form OD; a course syllabus for each course in the program; and CVs of the faculty who develop and/or instruct the courses. Our office will work with Academic Affairs to provide all of the other required information and will submit the packet to TBR for approval.
  • Filing a Course Proposal and a Copyright Agreement (or Work for Hire form, if someone other than faculty is developing the course) for each course to be developed online. You may want to check existing programs, including RODP programs, to determine if courses required for your degree have already been converted to an online format. This paperwork can be submitted as your courses are developed.
