The University of Memphis College of Arts and Sciences, History department, is proud to offer the online Bachelor of Arts in History. The degree requires a total of 120 credit hours. Areas of emphasis include United States, Latin American, European, Russian, Far Eastern, and Middle Eastern. By working closely with your academic advisor, you can design the degree that best matches your specific interest and/or area of desired expertise. Use your degree to prepare for a profession, or to satisfy your own love of history.

You may complete this degree online, by combining online courses with courses offered at the University of Memphis campus, or by combining University of Memphis courses with a limited number of approved courses transferred from other institutions (see our undergraduate catalog for more information).

Students who successfully complete the Bachelor of Arts in History learn to read critically and analytically both primary and secondary sources, to appreciate the complexity of historical issues and the multiplicity of historical views, to investigate historical questions and communicate the results of these investigations.
