How do online courses work?

UM Online are online courses developed by University of Memphis faculty for University of Memphis students. Some UM Online courses are synchronous, meaning students may be required to be online at a particular day and time, or may be required to attend on-campus class meetings or orientations. Be sure to read ALL FOOTNOTES when enrolling in online classes so you will know exactly what is required of you in terms of travel to campus.

What computer equipment will I need to succeed in an online course?

What courses will I have to take?

Each program is tailored to the specific courses required to meet the appropriate guidelines and minimum requirements of the specific degree program. You should contact an advisor for degree program details.

May I attend part-time?

You may enroll in an online program at part-time. Students are considered part time when taking less than 12 hours in a semester.

May I take some courses as a non-degree student?

You can only take 18 hours a semester, not to exceed 24 semester hours total, as a non-degree undergraduate student. If you choose to change your status to degree seeking, any previously credit earned as "non-degree" may be applied toward your chosen degree program. Review the University of Memphis Academic Bulletin for complete requirements. For information on non-degree status as a graduate student, please refer to the information on the Graduate School website.

Will financial aid, or military tuition assistance apply to an online program?

Yes, financial aid and military assistance can be applied to any online program. RODP and UofM online programs follow all University of Memphis guidelines for fee payment.

May I apply online?

Yes, all interested students are encouraged to submit your application online.
