Department Mission Statement Features

The mission of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis is to:

  • Provide educational opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students so that they have the knowledge to enter professional practice and meet or exceed the expectations of employers and to have the fundamental skills required to continually enhance their knowledge, and provide leadership in industry, government, or academia.

  • Create, advance, and disseminate knowledge in the fields of electrical and computer engineering to contribute to the general welfare of the Mid-South region, the State of Tennessee, and the Nation.

Eddie White

Eddie White (CpE/EE 2009) traveled to Australia with Dr. Khan Iftekharuddin to collaborate with other researchers on perfecting face-recognition systems. White's work on this National Science Foundation-funded project in the Intelligent Systems and Image Processing (ISIP) lab won him second place in the undergraduate engineering category of the annual U of M Student Research Forum.
