The Center for Advanced Sensors (CAS) addresses military
needs by conducting research in the areas of sensor performance
models, wavefront sensing and control, bioelectronics,
nanotechnology, and knowledge engineering.
In
collaboration with technology partners at the Army Research
Laboratory, the Army's Night Vision and Electronic Sensors
Directorate, and the Office of Naval Research, the Center is
uniquely qualified to research and develop future military
imaging systems.
Eddie White (CpE/EE 2009) traveled to Australia with Dr. Khan Iftekharuddin to collaborate with other researchers on perfecting face-recognition systems. White's work on this National Science Foundation-funded project in the Intelligent Systems and Image Processing (ISIP) lab won him second place in the undergraduate engineering category of the annual U of M Student Research Forum.
