S-STEM Scholarship Application Features

The following three steps are required for a complete application:

  1. Complete the application on-line, then print it and US mail or deliver it to:

    S-STEM Program
Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering
    206 Engineering Science Building
    Memphis, Tennessee, 38152

Please complete  every item on the application and sign and date it.
  2. Have two letters of recommendation sent to the above address. The letters should be from people who can attest to your academic abilities, character, and potential for success in your chosen field. If you have previously applied to the S-STEM program, then the two reference letters are on file and additional letters are not required; however, you must send in a new application.
  3. A 300-500 word statement of your career goals. Please sign and date it.

Each scholarship pays up to $2175.00 per semester ($4350.00 per academic year) depending on the level of financial need. The S-STEM scholarship can be "added to" other scholarship and/or  financial aid for which the student qualifies provided it does not put the student in an "over award" situation. The Office of Financial Aid will determine the exact amount of the scholarship taking into account other forms of financial aid that you may receive. If you have not completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) you must do so to demonstrate financial need.

S-STEM applications will be accepted for every Fall and Spring semester during the program. Applications are requested no later than December 1 for Spring semester awards and no later than May 15 for Fall semester awards to guarantee consideration as long as funds are available from NSF and open slots are available in the program.
