Upcoming Alumni Events

During this time of year, our
campus is abuzz with students studying for final exams,
faculty grading papers and staff preparing for the next
semester. We know December is a busy month for you as well.
In the midst of all this excitement, we hope you
will keep your alma mater in mind and consider making a gift
to the University of Memphis. Your gift is tax deductible
and can be used for scholarships, professorships and needed
items such as library books and lab equipment. Contributions
of any size can and do make a difference to the University
of Memphis. For more information or to make a gift online,
please visit http://www.law.memphis.edu.
The University requires that all gifts made by credit card
be submitted by midnight on Dec. 28 to be processed in the
2006 calendar year.
On behalf of the Alumni
Association and the entire University of Memphis family,
thank you for your support and we hope you have a True Blue
new year!

The University of Memphis and
Medtronic have joined forces to provide real-world learning
experiences for undergraduate students through two new
programs. Funded by a $250,000 gift from Medtronic, the
Medtronic Team Challenge and the Medtronic
Research Fellowship will provide undergraduate students
at the U of M a taste of what it's like to engage in
team-based work or mentored research in a real-world,
corporate setting. Both represent programs the University
would like to replicate with other area employers.
Students planning to enter the U of M
in fall 2007 as first-time, incoming freshmen may apply for
the Alumni Association Scholarship. The award is a
four-year scholarship worth $1,000/year ($500/semester).
Relatives of Alumni Association members who have paid their
dues within the calendar year prior to the application
deadline are eligible. The scholarship program encourages
family of Alumni Association members to make the U of M
their first choice for higher education.
Deadline to
apply is January 31, 2007. For an application and details
regarding eligibility, go to http://www.memphis.edu/alumni/scholarship.html.
Recipients will be notified by the end of February, and must
accept by April 15. Please contact Becky McCoy at
901/678-2930 or bmccoy@memphis.edu for
more information.

Awards and two Excellence in Advising Awards to University
faculty and staff. Members receive many benefits, including
