Spring 2011 Course Descriptions

This course presents the process of planning and implementing community arts programs, whether in an educational setting or within an independent or government-sponsored organization.  Students receive hands-on training in connection with the River City Writers Series.  Emphasis is on the teaching of professional and practical skills required to organize and administer events.  Students will produce and market author interviews and book reviews.  Related topics include grant writing for organizations, individuals, writers' conferences and colonies, and other forms of community outreach.

 

Requirements and Grading

Presentation on author:  25%

Funding proposal – partner with a student organization:  25%

x

Participation in discussions, event planning, and authors' events:   50%

x

 

Required Texts

Any edition of the books is acceptable.
