Fall 2011 Course Descriptions
This entire course will be devoted to the great fantasy and mystical literature of the period. In addition to the poetry of Tennyson,  Robert Browning,  Arnold,  and  Hopkins,  we will look at the fiction of  Carroll, Conan Doyle, Dickens, Kipling, Mrs. Gaskell, Rider Haggard, Stevenson,  Stoker,  and Wilde. We will also view the film Dreamchild.  The units of the course will include:  Times Long Ago;  The Adult Children’s Story; The Double; Ghosts and Vampires;  and Exotic Journeys.

Course work will include two seminar reports, a seminar paper, and a final exam.
