Requirements:
30 course hours (10 courses) + 3 thesis hours OR 33 course hours (11 courses) and
a comprehensive exam*
Full Time:
GA/TA = 12 hours (options 7004, 7005,7006, 7007) Other students = 9 hours
Configuration:
6 hours Literature courses 18 hours concentration including ENGL 7531 Theory and History of ESL (no more than
9 hours in Linguistics may be app1ied to concentration; all hours may be ESL) Electives (6 hours with thesis, 9 hours without)
Other Paperwork:
Transfer credits (up to 12 hours; requires formal approval) Contingencies (any prerequisites listed on admission letter) Teaching assistantship (available after completing 18 graduate hours in English) Independent study courses (3 hours only may count toward degree) Note: Students seeking add-on endorsement (Grades K-12) refer to separate statement
of requirements
* Students submitting a thesis for graduation must submit both a thesis form and a
comprehensive exam form based on the oral defense of the thesis.
