Computer Engineering Technology Features

The University of Memphis offers a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree with a major in Computer Engineering Technology (CETH) through the Herff College of Engineering. The CETH program provides a unique blend of courses in electronics, computer hardware, and computer software that emphasizes the analysis and design of microprocessor based computer systems. The program is characterized by the special emphasis placed on computer hardware and electronics as well as computer software and programming. The CETH graduates thus has a working knowledge of both hardware and software and the interaction between them. CETH graduates provide business and industry with qualified professionals who can design, install, maintain, and operate computer systems as well as perform programming and systems analysis. Areas of study include Data Acquisition Systems, Network Systems, Operating Systems, and Embedded Systems.

The Computer Engineering Technology program prepares graduates for industrial positions that use computer systems and computer programming to solve complex problems in engineering, scientific, and industrial applications. The program provides a broad background in industrial computer applications that allow a graduate flexibility in seeking employment.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Technology program is accredited by Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc.

Mr. Thomas Banning was selected by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Memphis Chapter 105 as its 2009 Memphis-Area Joint Engineers Council Featured Engineer. Mr. Banning is an Assistant Professor of Engineering Technology.
