About the Expert: Charles Hall joined the University of Memphis in 1984 to help start the M.A. in English as a second language (ESL) program. He has been coordinator of the University of Memphis Summer TEFL training courses in the Czech Republic since 1990. Hall has held two Senior AY Fulbright awards. He has done teacher training sponsored by various organizations, such as the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations, in Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mexico, Morocco, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Southern Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen. Hall is co-author of American Legal English [2nd ed. University of Michigan Press, 2007] and several other texts for ESL or EFL courses. He was the 2005 Chair of the ESP (English for Specific Purposes) Interest Section for International TESOL and has held several offices for Tennessee TESOL.
