About the Expert:
I received my Ph.D. in history in 2008 from the University of Chicago, my M.A. in history in 2002 from the University of Chicago, and my B.A. in 1999 from Columbia University. My fields of interest are: women, gender, and sexuality; the history of family and childhood; social work history and the history of adoption; and race and racialization. I am currently researching post-World War II family life, with a particular focus on the construction of domestic ideals across race and class during the baby boom. My next project will examine the role maternalism and motherhood played in women’s political activism in the twentieth century.
