Each fall we invite University of Memphis faculty to sign up on our Experts List.
We are asking faculty to please sign up by October 25.
Note that your submissions will go through an approval process with your dean after

About the Expert:
Born in Mexico City, Elena Delavega, PhD, MSW, obtained her Master’s Degree with a concentration in Gerontology from the University of Houston in 2008, and graduated with a PhD from the same university in 2010. Since August 2011, she is Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of Memphis, where she teaches Social Welfare Policy Analysis, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and Program and Policy Evaluation. Her research interests are focused on sustainable economic development, and include the ways to alleviate poverty, wages, the relationship between education and capital, capital transformations, and immigration. Her research is related to policy analysis, especially on services for culturally diverse populations. Dr. Delavega is currently involved in several research projects related to poverty alleviation and the economic and social development of disadvantaged and marginalized populations. Dr. Delavega serves on a number of committees with the Department of Social Work at the University of Memphis, including the the Planning Committee for the Department of Social Work’s Inaugural Symposium (October 25-26, 2012). She is actively involved with the community and the National Association of Social Workers. Dr. Delavega is fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
