Business Etiquette

Business Etiquette LessonBusiness Etiquette is a training component of the Fogelman Promise Initiatives and is designed to teach students proper dining behaviors and casual conversation protocols in the business world. The program is coordinated by Dr. Barbara Davis, Associate Professor of Management.

Many students have never been exposed to formal dining, networking and conversing in a business setting. Through the Fogelman College of Business & Economics’ Business Etiquette program, these protocols are discussed and demonstrated by a Certified Etiquette Consultant. The initiative allows students to learn about etiquette in an encouraging class setting to alleviate anxiety for those never exposed to formal dining situations.

Utensil Ettiquette GuideCost for the program is minimal (currently only $10, though similar programs run from $100-$150 per person) and covers food, beverages and printed materials. The program is offered only to business majors. Students enrolled in MGMT 3510 and students classified as juniors or seniors are given first priority for enrollment.

Four dining sessions are held each fall and spring semester, and reservations fill up quickly. The program is delivered in a practical, interactive format designed to improve students’ social and soft skills. This, in turn, enhances students’ self-confidence and ultimately their effectiveness at attaining leadership positions and advancing through an organization. Students who have attended this program have given it high marks for content and satisfaction.

Sessions will be held at the Fogelman Executive Center and take place from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. on select dates during the fall and spring semesters.

Spring 2013 Semester dates for Business Etiquette are:

Thursday, Feb 7
