The Fogelman College of Business & Economics' online MBA program has earned a spot
on Business MBA's list of Top 25 Best Value Online MBA Programs. The No. 16 listing marks the first time Fogelman's MBA program has been nationally
"Not only is the online MBA program a great value, but the fact that we launched it
has changed our internal teaching culture," said Dr. Jasbir Dhaliwal, Professor and
Associate Dean for Academic Programs. "We have moved from a very traditional 'talk
and chalk' environment to high-tech teaching. It's a big shift for our faculty, and
I think it bodes well for the future. We're keeping up with the times."
In the past, Dhaliwal said, the major players in the online MBA space were private
institutions. The last five years have seen "a big shift whereby all the traditional
research schools are starting to put their MBA programs online," he added. "We're
taking the market back from the private schools."
As a traditional, AACSB-accredited college, Fogelman uses the same faculty to teach
online classes as face-to-face classes. Students can choose whether to complete a
degree entirely online, entirely face-to-face or a combination of both. That mix of
top-notch teaching and flexibility are the key factors that have led to the program's
success, Dhaliwal noted. "Because of the quality of this program, there has been a
huge increase in enrollment," he said.
The Business MBA ranking is the result of an independent study of top-rated AACSB
or regionally accredited business schools that offer an online MBA program at a relatively
affordable cost. The listing aims to "give students looking to get the best bang for
their MBA buck a great place to start their search," according to the website.
"There are really good schools on that list — we are in good company," Dhaliwal said.
"We are not out to make money. We just want to help our students finish on time and
get a good education."
