PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR
School of Accountancy
Description
The Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking qualified applicants for the  position of Professor and Director of the School of Accountancy, open fall semester 2013.  The Director position is an academic-year appointment with additional compensation for summer responsibilities.  The School of Accountancy is an academically diverse, research-oriented group of 18 full-time faculty positions in accounting, taxation, and business law/legal environment and includes two Chairs of Excellence.  The School offers undergraduate (BBA) and graduate (MS Accounting and PhD) programs and is fully accredited by AACSB International.  

The Director provides academic and administrative leadership for all operations of the School and is responsible for developing goals and implementing plans to achieve its objectives.  Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation; curriculum development; research initiatives; program promotion; course scheduling; budgeting; staff supervision; and external relationships with the accounting profession and business community.  Teaching responsibilities include one course per semester.  The Director serves on the College’s Executive Council.  

Qualifications
The Committee seeks candidates with the following qualifications:
  • An earned doctorate with specialization in accounting
  • An established record of professional accomplishment appropriate to appointment as Full Professor
  • A strong record of scholarship and publication
  • Ability to provide leadership through collaboration with the faculty to advance academic programsAdministrative ability and effective communication and interpersonal skillsCapability for effective interaction with the accounting profession and business communityKnowledge of AACSB accreditation policies and practices
  • Experience and accomplishment appropriate to appointment at the rank of associate or full professor
  • Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CIA) is desirable.

INSTRUCTOR
School of Accountancy
Lambuth Campus

Position
The School of Accountancy in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking qualified applicants for a faculty position for the 2014-2015 academic year, beginning August 18.  This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment.  Hiring is contingent on final budget approval.  The instructor will teach at the attractive Lambuth Campus in Jackson, TN, about 85 miles east of Memphis.
 
Responsibilities
Effectively delivering instruction in a variety of undergraduate accounting courses, evaluating student learning, participating in related department activities, advising students, and complying with all School, College, and University regulations.  Instructors normally teach four 3-credit courses per semester.  In this position, the instructor will be responsible for teaching on-ground and on-line sections and advising students majoring in accounting in the BBA program.
 
Qualifications
Ph.D. in accounting is strongly desired (ABDs considered if degree completion is imminent).  College teaching experience is required.  Relevant professional experience, certification (e.g., CPA or CMA), and on-line teaching experience are desired.

The Department of Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate in the Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking qualified applicants for a faculty position for the 2014-2015 academic year.  This is a nine-month, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of instructor.  Hiring is contingent on final budget approval.
 
Responsibilities
Effectively delivering course instruction, evaluating student learning, participating in relevant departmental activities, advising students and student groups, and complying with all College and University regulations.  The expected teaching load is 12 hours (four courses per semester).  Teaching areas include corporate finance and investments, and online teaching is also expected.
 
Qualifications
Ph.D. in finance or related discipline is strongly desired.  Candidates with an appropriate master’s degrees and significant related experience will be considered.  Relevant professional experience and college teaching experience are highly desired, as is  professional certification such as the CFA.

Responsibilities
Effectively delivering course instruction, evaluating student learning, participating in related department activities, advising students, and complying with all College and University regulations.  The expected teaching load is 12 hours (four courses) per semester.  Teaching areas could include computer applications, critical thinking, and business analytics.
 
Qualifications
Ph.D. in management information systems or related discipline is strongly desired.  Candidates with an appropriate master’s degree and significant related experience will be considered.  Relevant professional experience and college teaching experience (including online teaching) are highly desired.

Responsibilities
Effectively delivering course instruction, evaluating student learning, participating in related departmental activities, advising students, and complying with all College and University regulations.  The expected teaching load is 12 hours (four courses) per semester.  Teaching areas could include courses in advertising, principles of marketing, and retailing.
 
Qualifications
A Ph.D. degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline is strongly desired.  Candidates with an appropriate master’s degree and significant related experience will be considered.  Relevant professional experience  and college teaching experience are highly desired.  Experience in teaching online courses is desired.
