PROFESSOR AND DIRECTOR School of Accountancy
Description
The Fogelman College of Business & Economics is seeking qualified applicants for the
position of Professor and Director of the School of Accountancy, open fall semester
2013. The Director position is an academic-year appointment with additional compensation
for summer responsibilities. The School of Accountancy is an academically diverse,
research-oriented group of 18 full-time faculty positions in accounting, taxation,
and business law/legal environment and includes two Chairs of Excellence. The School
offers undergraduate (BBA) and graduate (MS Accounting and PhD) programs and is fully
accredited by AACSB International. The Director provides academic and administrative leadership for all operations of
the School and is responsible for developing goals and implementing plans to achieve
its objectives. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation;
curriculum development; research initiatives; program promotion; course scheduling;
budgeting; staff supervision; and external relationships with the accounting profession
and business community. Teaching responsibilities include one course per semester.
The Director serves on the College’s Executive Council.
Qualifications
The Committee seeks candidates with the following qualifications:
- An earned doctorate with specialization in accounting
- An established record of professional accomplishment appropriate to appointment as

- A strong record of scholarship and publication
- Ability to provide leadership through collaboration with the faculty to advance academic

ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF ACCOUNTING School of Accountancy
Description The School of Accountancy is seeking a tenure-track assistant/associate professor,
preferably at the advanced level, effective fall semester 2013. Responsibilities
include effectively teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, developing
a stream of quality research, participating in activities of the School, and fulfilling
professional and university service responsibilities. All specializations in accounting
will be considered. The School’s faculty includes 17 full-time faculty members and
offers the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in accounting and supports other
academic programs of the Fogelman College.
Qualifications A Ph.D. in accounting is required (advanced ABDs may be considered if degree completion
is imminent). All areas of specialization in accounting will be considered. Effective
college teaching experience and evidence of empirical archival research potential
are required for assistant professor. Applicants for associate professor must also
have a strong record of scholarly research and the ability to participate in doctoral
education and curriculum matters at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Graduate
teaching experience and certification as a public accountant or financial analyst
are desired.

Description The Department of Management Information Systems is seeking a tenure-track Assistant
Professor, effective fall semester 2013. Responsibilities include effectively teaching
undergraduate and graduate courses, developing a stream of quality research, participating

responsibilities. This position will support research in the Department’s System
Testing Excellence Program (step.memphis.edu) which is a top national academic research
center in software testing with partners including the Department of Defense and FedEx.
Candidates will be expected to perform high-quality research and engage industry
partners in software testing. The Department includes 17 full-time faculty members
and offers the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in MIS (the only Ph.D. program
in MIS in the Tennessee) and supports other academic programs of the Fogelman College.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a Ph.D. with a concentration in MIS or a closely related area
