Fogelman College EMBA Grad Lori O'Brien Named Chief Development Officer of ALSAC/St.
Jude
Fogelman College Executive MBA graduate Lori O’Brien has been promoted to the newly
created position of Chief Development Officer (CDO) of ALSAC, the fundraising arm
of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. The announcement from ALSAC
reads as follows:
The Chief Development Officer position has been created to oversee the fundraising
efforts for ALSAC, including implementing strategy, measuring fundraising effectiveness,
driving coordination of fundraising efforts and managing efficiencies to reduce overhead.
Lori brings a wealth of both educational and work experience to her new position.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Relations from the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and most recently her Executive Masters in Business
Administration from the University of Memphis.
Our new CDO has over nineteen years experience in direct response, corporate alliance
and nonprofit marketing experience. In the early 1990's, Lori served as ALSAC Deputy
Director of National Direct Marketing. She then moved to FedEx Marketing as Alliance
Program Manager, and to Washington, DC as a charitable and political fundraising consultant
before returning to ALSAC in the capacity of Senior Director of Mail Acquisition and
Donor Retention, becoming Sr. Vice President of ALSAC National Direct Marketing in
2005.
According to Lori, "We absolutely have the best fundraising staff in the country.
This is demonstrated by the number of other organizations that want to benchmark with
ALSAC. My vision is to coordinate the efforts of our fundraising groups and properly
resource them so we can expand our successful core programs and bring new high-potential
programs to market. Working together, we will have a unified game plan for success,
which ultimately means more money for the children of St. Jude."
