Fogelman College Student Wins Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship
The University of Memphis has been awarded a scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic
year under the Department of Defense (DoD) Information Assurance Scholarship Program,
with Vilas Rajanna selected as the recipient. Mr. Rajanna has a double major in Management
Information Systems and Accountancy and expects to receive his Bachelor in Business
Administration degree in Spring 2010. This scholarship includes tuition, required books, select fees, and a stipend.
This DoD program is sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and
Information Integration, with the National Security Agency administering the program
as the Executive Agent. The Principal Investigator at the University of Memphis is
Dr. Judith C. Simon, Co-Director of the Center for Information Assurance and Professor of Management
Information Systems.
The National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security have designated
the University of Memphis as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information
Assurance Education, and students at these designated institutions may compete for
annual scholarships. Full-time students (juniors, seniors, and graduate students)
with an overall grade point average of 3.0 and a major in a field associated with
computer and network security and its management are eligible to apply. Interested
