Dr. Julia Heath Wins Two Prestigious National Teaching Awards

Dr. Julia A. Heath, Professor of Economics in the Fogelman College and Director of the Center for Economic Education, recently won two prestigious national teaching awards. Dr. Heath was named Educator of the Year by The Institute for Financial Literacy, receiving its Excellence in Financial Literacy Education Award. In addition, the Southern Economic Association named Dr. Heath the recipient of its 2008 Kenneth G. Elzinga Distinguished Teaching Award.  This award is given annually to honor a university professor for outstanding contributions to economics education.  In addition to her university teaching, Dr. Heath has been very active in working with K-12 teachers in Tennessee to introduce economic and financial literacy at all levels.
