For release: November 18, 2010
Dr. Eric T. Brey, assistant professor in the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality
and Resort Management recently provided the opening address to the Paddlesports Professional
Association PRO 2010 annual conference. His lecture, entitled Trends in Social Media and Search Engine Optimization, addressed advanced trends and techniques in successfully engaging customers and
maximizing search engine optimization using Social Media. By addressing advanced applications of old and new technology, along with specific
strategies for engaging customers and measuring effectiveness, outdoor recreation
professionals were provided a preview into the successful applications of social media. The session met with extremely positive reviews as Dr. Brey has been invited back
to speak at future conferences and seminars for this group of tourism professionals.
Coincidentally, this presentation corresponds with a recent story in the Marketing Review, the premier outlet for sales and marketing information for the hospitality and tourism
industry published by HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International),
discussing the increased importance of social media in today’s business environment. Eric was quoted on the impacts of social media on brand loyalty and how the conversation
economy has forever impacted the way in which consumers interact with brands and businesses
alike.
