For release: November 9, 2010
Economics undergraduate students Louis Tomayko and Jasmine Jackson presented their
research project “The Core Drivers of Excessive Prescription Drugs Use and Expenditures
in the state of TN: A County-level investigation” at the recent University of Memphis
'Works in Progress Symposium'. The work was completed under the direction of Dr. Albert
Okunade as part of the requirements for the Honors section of ECON 2120. They were
judged in two separate presentation time slots by six independent judges including
faculty from several disciplines. Following the judging, Tomayko and Jackson were
selected as two of thirteen students from across the campus for scholarships to allow
them to present their research at the 2011 National Conference on Undergraduate Research
in New York. Jackson was also recently elected President of the newly formed FCBE
Honors Society.
