College Hosts 'Future Business Leaders of America' Event
The FCBE hosted approximately 600 high school students for competitive events on 2/19/2010.
This event was for high school students from Memphis and Shelby County Schools who
are majoring in business technology and members of the Future Business Leaders of
America (FBLA). They competed in a wide variety of events ranging from finance to
spreadsheet, to accounting, to multimedia design, to job interview, to public speaking
– in total, 43 different events. Students who were successful at the UofM will compete
on a statewide basis at the FBLA Conference in Chattanooga in May. Winners at the
State level will compete at the National FBLA Conference at the Opryland Hotel in
July. The awards ceremony for the event was held at the Holiday Inn Ballroom on Monday,
February 22 with approximately 500 high school students and teachers in attendance.
Fogelman College of Business & Economics Dean Grover gave the "Welcome" at the beginning
of the event which included presentations and a dinner. The College has been hosting
these competitive events for about 30 years, but it has grown significantly in recent
