Chang Leads Investigation of Health Care Reform in Shelby County

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law by President Barack Obama last year will have a profound impact on how health care is delivered in Shelby County and will transform the insurance market in Tennessee.  Dr. Cyril Chang of the Economics Department led a team of researchers who recently completed a detailed analysis of the new law’s impact.  The study, which was supported by the Assisi Foundation, found that the most direct impact will be to reduce by more than 50 percent the number of Shelby County residents without health insurance.  For a copy of the report, write to Dr. Cyril F.
