Fogelman Promise Day Draws Crowds, Helps Hungry
For release: April 27, 2011
The Fogelman College of Business and Economics held its second annual Promise Day
on 21st February 2011. The event was a big success with over 1,500 students along
with numerous faculty and several alumni and friends in attendance. Students received
free polo shirts and were treated to a food menu of barbeque, beans, coleslaw, chips
and soft drinks served by students from the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and
Resort Management. Live entertainment was provided by Rockin Robins DJs who directed
student dance contests and gave out free prizes. Student organizations, FCBE academic
units and Fogelman Promise representatives staffed tables to provide information to
students on their activities. The big addition to Promise Day this year was Fogelman
Feeds, a new initiative to get students, faculty and staff involved in volunteering
to bag food packages for the hungry. Over 10,000 bags were packaged during Fogelman
Promise Day.
Fogelman Promise Day is a celebration to bring recognition to the Fogelman Promise
Initiatives designed to help business majors succeed in business and life. FCBE students,
faculty and staff are encouraged to make a commitment to themselves to do their best
in all they undertake, to make positive contributions to the community, and to strive
to achieve their full potential in their personal and professional lives.
