Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Visits The College

On Friday, November 16, 2012, Mr. Ed Greer who is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense and also the Director of the Department of Defense’s Test Resource Management Center (TRMC) visited the College to learn about cutting-edge research underpinning industry best practices for agile development and testing. The College’s Systems Testing Excellence Program (STEP) recently completely a large test and evaluation project for the Department of Defense. A team of FCBE faculty experts, led by Associate Dean Dr. Jasbir Dhaliwal and including Dr. Robin Poston and Dr. Mark Gillenson, made presentations to the visiting team based on STEP research that has recently been published in research outlets such as the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the European Journal of Information Systems, IEEE Software, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Management Information Systems and the Journal of Database Management. Mr. Greer also spoke to the Advisory Board of the College’s Department of Management Information Systems and his Principal Deputy, Dr. Steve Hutchison, encouraged Fogelman PhD students in the information systems area to focus their doctoral research on agile development and testing methodologies.
