FCBE Faculty Honored with Research Awards

Awards for the best academic papers published by FCBE faculty in 2011 were announced
at the Fogelman faculty and staff meeting in August. The awards are given each year
in two categories of research: Empirical and Conceptual/Theoretical. The Ph.D. Sub-Council
for Graduate Studies and Research reviews and evaluates the nominated papers and judges
them for their overall quality and contribution to the respective disciplines. The
first place winner in each category receives a plaque and $1,000; the second place
winner receives a plaque and $500.
Dr. Sandra Mortal, Associate Professor of Finance, received the first place award
in the Empirical Category for an article published in the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Dr. Nikolsko-Rzhevskyy Oleksandr, Assistant Professor of Economics, was awarded
second place for his paper in the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.
In the Conceptual/Theoretical Category, Dr. Naomi R. Rothenberg, Assistant Professor
of Accounting, was awarded first place for her work in Contemporary Accounting Research. Dr. Mehdi Amini, Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, garnered the
second place award for a paper published in Omega: The International Journal of Management Science.
