Fogelman College Alumnus, Dr. Diego Nocetti, Receives Prestigious Award

Diego C. Nocetti, an associate professor of economics and finance, was awarded the
John W. Graham Jr. Faculty Research Award during Clarkson University's 119th commencement
ceremony on May 12, 2012. Dr. Nocetti earned his Ph.D. in economics at the Fogelman
College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis and currently teaches
at Clarkson University School of Business.
His research focuses on the economics of uncertainty, with particular emphasis on
the development of theoretical models that analyze both positive and normative aspects
of decision-making under uncertainty.
In his latest research, Nocetti has explored the theory of precautionary saving in
the presence of multiple sources of risk, the theory of comparative risk aversion
among groups, and social discounting of environmental projects with uncertain returns.
His research has been published in a number of leading academic journals including
Management Science, Journal of Money Credit and Banking, Journal of Economic Dynamics
and Control, Social Choice and Welfare, Economics Letters, B.E. Journal of Economic
Analysis and Policy, Review of Law and Economics, and Journal of Applied Economics.
Nocetti's article "Properties of the Social Discount Rate in a Benthamite Framework
with Heterogeneous Degrees of Impatience," published in Management Science, was awarded
the Finance and Sustainability European Research Award in the category Best Published
Research Article.
He has presented his research at numerous academic conferences and has chaired several
conference sessions. Nocetti has frequently served as ad hoc reviewer for highly regarded
academic journals. He is a member of the American Economic Association, the Econometric
Society, and the Western Economic Association.
