For release: March 8, 2013
FCBE doctoral student in the School of Accountancy, Saad Murtuza Siddiqui, has been
selected by a national scholarly committee to attend the American Accounting Association
(AAA) 2013 Doctoral Consortium in Tahoe City, California. The Doctoral Consortium,
which is will be held in June, is sponsored by Deloitte and J. Michael Cook. It is
considered one of the most prestigious events offered by the AAA. The consortium is
conducted by leading accounting scholars and provides a research forum for stimulating
nationally ranked doctoral students to pursue research in significant emerging areas
in accounting.
“Each year at the Consortium, we work to advance the dialogue among Ph.D. students
and provide a forum for them to share ideas and best practices related to accounting
research,” said Shaun Budnik, president of the Deloitte Foundation. “As members of
the accounting profession continue to grapple with the shortage of accounting faculty
and its impact on the future pipeline of well-trained talent, it is imperative to
support today’s top doctoral candidates by giving them the opportunity to network
with other Ph.D. students and prominent faculty in their areas of research.”
Siddiqui will teach in the area of taxation and his research is entitled “Market Frictions:
Financing Decision and Firm Value Effects.”
