Dr. William Kettinger, FedEx Chair of Excellence in Management Information Systems,
has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Visiting Professorship for the period from
March to July, 2013. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational
exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to “increase mutual
understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.”
With this goal as a starting point, the Fulbright Program has provided participants—chosen
for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study,
teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to
shared international concerns.
Dr. Kettinger’s primary activities for the Fulbright appointment will be to significantly
advance a continuing line of research with colleague Dr. Tina Wakolbinger, Professor
of Supply Chain at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The Title of the
research project is: "From Cradle to Grave: Using Information Embedded in Products
to Transform Closed Loop Supply Chains." He will also present seminars and lectures
to masters and Ph.D. students at the Vienna University of Economics. Dr. Kettinger
is only the second professor in the FCBE’s Department of Management Information Systems
