Dr. Albert Okunade Honored by Economics Association

Albert Okunade, a FCBE Economics Professor, received a Certificate of Recognition
in appreciation of his dedicated service and contributions to the goals of the African
Finance and Economics Association (AFEA) as the immediate past Secretary-Treasurer.
He was presented the award at the joint annual meetings of the Allied Social Sciences
Associations (ASSA) in San Diego, CA this past January. During his tenure in office,
Professor Okunade spearheaded a number of initiatives and reforms including the association's
official Journal of African Development. During the award ceremony, he accepted the invitation to guest-edit a future issue
of African Development Review, the official journal of the African Development Bank. The upcoming issue will discuss
the topic of “Human Capital Development and Growth in Africa.” AFEA is a US-based
global professional association of leading and emerging academic and policy reform
economists and finance experts. Members of this organization are linked to core development
partnership organizations including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa
(UNECA), West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM), and
the African Development Bank (ADB).
