Dr. Eric T. Brey, assistant professor in the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management was recently recognized as one of the "Top 25 Most Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing" for his support and extensive work within the hospitality industry. Awarded by the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI), this award recognizes the 'best of the best' marketers in hospitality, travel and tourism. Dr. Brey was selected by a panel of senior industry executives for his recent work based upon the following criteria: creativity and innovation, cutting edge marketing campaigns, triumph in challenging situations, and efforts resulting in dramatic gains. "With recipients including major hotel and resort companies to CEOs of marketing organizations, this is the highest honor that I could receive as an educator for my work within hospitality marketing," said Brey. "As an industry award given by executives to industry professionals, this validates a firm focus on providing industry support through practitioner-directed research, an applied teaching focus, and service in support of industry".
As director of the Center for Resort and Hospitality Business, Eric supports the hospitality industry through his work that focuses on developing a better understanding of consumer experiences and their effects on hotel and resort operations. For his work, he has received multiple research excellence awards, has been recognized for teaching innovation, and quoted by more than 125 international publication and media outlets, including Forbes, Business Week, USA Today, The New York Post, The Washington Post, and CBS News. Dr. Brey has also presented internationally to multiple destination management organizations and industry groups including American Resort Development Association, Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association and the Women’s Foodservice Forum amongst others.
