Dr. Jasbir S. Dhaliwal has been appointed Associate Dean for Research and Academic Programs in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics at the University of Memphis. He succeeds Dr. Carol Danehower, who is returning to full-time teaching duties in the College.
He will oversee the renewal and expansion of the College’s undergraduate programs, its five MBA tracks (professional, international, executive, customer-driven, and online), and its research-based doctoral programs. He will also work with the faculty to advance collaborative, interdisciplinary research, as the College continues to
emphasize research development as a way to strengthen its position nationally in business and economics research.
In announcing the appointment, Fogelman College Dean Rajiv Grover said, "I am delighted that Dr. Dhaliwal has accepted this position. The faculty and I have high expectations of him. He will increase the pace of innovation in all academic programs and quality improvement in student services and student experience, with the goal of increasing the recruitment and retention of students."
Dhaliwal is a professor in the College's Department of Management Information Systems (MIS); before his new appointment, he was chairman of that department. He is also director of the Systems Testing Excellence Program at the FedEx Institute of Technology.
Dhaliwal is internationally recognized for his research and work in software testing, intelligent interface design, and information technology governance and technology entrepreneurship. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and he is the co-author of a book on e-business innovation.
An accountant, Dhaliwal holds MBA and Ph.D. degrees from the University of British Columbia. He has taught at the U of M since 2005.
