The Holiday Inn at the University of Memphis, home to the FCBE’s Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality and Resort Management, has earned the InterContinental Hotels Group Torchbearer Award for the seventh consecutive year. This award confirms the hotel as one of the best Holiday Inns in the worldwide chain, based on it achieving the highest levels of excellence in all aspects of operation and customer satisfaction. In 2003, the hotel was also awarded the Newcomer of the year Award.
The Torchbearer Awards were presented in October 20,
2011 in Las Vegas, NV at a special ceremony during the InterContinental Hotels Group Americas Investor and Leadership Conference at which there were over 4,000 owners, operators and corporate executives.
“We do not take this award for granted. Don’t get me wrong…we’re proud, but we know it’s earned little by little every single day. Everything counts. I mean everything - every check-in, every meal, every maintenance or upgrade project and every satisfied customer. Good economy or bad economy, everything counts,” says Tom Johnson, Managing Partner.
Based on a report initially produced by Lorna Brown-Ray.
