Jennifer Johnston is an Assistant Professor of Teaching in Spanish and the Undergraduate Spanish Advisor at the University of Memphis. For her excellence in teaching, she received the 2015 UofM Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Award.  For her excellence in service, she received the 2015 President's Leadership Recognition Award for collaboration with Disability Resources for Students, the 2018 College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Advisor Award, and the 2020 University of Memphis Faculty Advisor Award.  She instructs SPAN 1010 Elementary Spanish I, SPAN 1020 Elementary Spanish II, SPAN 2010 Intermediate Spanish I, SPAN 2020 Intermediate Spanish II, SPAN 3301 Spanish Conversation, SPAN 3303 Composition, UNHP 1100 The Honors Forum, and CAS 4800 Internship.  She coordinates all undergraduate internships for Spanish majors and minors.  She has served as a mentor to many graduate teaching assistants in the MA in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish Concentration).  She is a member of the UofM Foreign Language Fair Committee and was the Director of the 2015 and 2016 UofM Language Fairs. She served as a board member for the Tennessee Foreign Language Teachers Association (TFLTA) from 2015 to 2018.
