Happy St. Patrick's Day! What a wonderful holiday for getting pinched if you forgot to wear your green, kissed if you're Irish, or maybe even the day you'll find that pot of gold (which would help to pay off those student loans I've already accumulated). It seems as if I say this every entry, but even on days that drag on I still can't believe that this semester and school year is going by so fast. I guess time flies when you're having so much fun, especially with projects and papers. Maybe I am just a little grumpy today because I forgot to wear my green.
Well, it's already been two weeks since I left school on spring break and alot has happened since then. I spent my spring break in Oklahoma going to see my boyfriend, Ben, graduate from bootcamp. It was an interesting enough trip with our car breaking down somewhere in Arkansas and getting rained on. I never thought I would be so happy to get back home. Also, I just found out this past week where I will be placed on exchange as a national exchange student. I will be attend The University of Farmington in Maine for the Fall 2004 semester. I am excited about this upcoming experience even though I will be twenty driving hours away from home. I really can't wait. If you ever have a chance in college, find out about the National Student Exchange (NSE) program from Patrick Perry in the scholarship office. It's a neat way to explore other areas of the country while your still in school. There are all types of school choices from all over the United States. You can even choose from Guam or Hawaii. Hey, who wouldn't want to go on exchange there?
I apologize for sounding so grumpy in this entry. I guess sometimes I get a little overwhelmed with my schedule. Your second semester as a freshman tends to be somewhat different from the first. My classes have gotten a little harder and so has the homework load. It's just a matter of learning how to balance it all. I'll admitt that before going into college I dreaded the fact of writing papers. Yet, now that I have done so many it doesn't seem that big of a deal anymore. I promise, you get use to it. I did. Also, I think my not-so-cheery attitude is because I don't have a roomate or suite mates this semester. Sure, it's great to have privacy and a little alone time. Yet, after having a roomate last semester I got use to having the "noise" of someone around and having someone to talk to. It helps to have friends around when you are away from home and at college. I really am glad now that I did get involved on-campus with other groups, because at least if it gets too lonely I have someone to call or visit.
In conclusion, spring is definitly in the air here. Well, at least the allergies are (grin). The campus is bursting with new green grass and blooms. It is so pretty to see after a cold, wet winter. Also, you can see "spring fever" in all forms. You can see couples walking hand-in-hand "twittery" (remember Bambi?) accross campus. Also, the computer labs and library are full of students working on papers and projects with hope that the end is in sight. Major cases of "spring fever" and "senior-itis" have set in among seniors who are soon to graduate. Yes, spring is definitly in the air. Have a wonderful week and try not to let the spring fever get to you too bad, especially you soon to be high school graduates.
