Fall Break and the Miss. State football game
I can’t wait for fall break this weekend. I’m planning to go back home where I haven’t been in probably four weeks, which is not a long time, but away from home, yes. But before I can go I have to go to the Miss. State game this weekend with the band. I hope we win, it should be a good one.
Overall this week, my classes went pretty good. I really didn’t do anything exciting this week at all. I just went to class and studied mostly. I did it during the week because I know this weekend I probably wouldn’t do it when I went home.
Saturday 8 a.m. I should have gone to bed the night before instead of watching movies in my dorm room. I sure didn’t feel like getting up and going to the game but it was something I had to do. We arrived at Starkville, Miss. around 11 o’clock. We had two hours before the game started so we had time to look around and do whatever we wanted. After we got dressed we marched to the stadium, went to our seats and waited for the game to start.
The first quarter was close, Miss. State and the Tigers were scoring left and right, back to back touchdowns from each team, but the play to break the Tigers was probably the kickoff return for a touchdown Miss. State ran back in the third quarter. The tigers scored to get within 8 points with about 3 or 4 minutes left in the game. We got the ball back with 1:58 to go in the game and drove to the 45 yard line where Miss. State stopped finally us. We had 2 or 3 chances to tie it up but the Tigers came up short. They played a good game. If they didn’t get that kickoff return, it would have probably been a different story. After the game the we stopped and got something to eat at McDonald’s and headed back to Memphis. Of course what did I do, I went to sleep because when we got back. I was gonna have to drive 4 hours to get back home.
Home at last! It was so nice being in my own room and my own bed again. Not trying to put down Richardson Towers, but there is no place like home. I was so glad to see everyone especially my little sister. She is seven, I will get a picture of my family next time I go back home. I know you are probably like "You were glad to see your sister?" Yes, my little sister and I get along. We should, she is 7 and I am 18 so you see the difference in age.
Of course I spent time with my family mostly. I took my little sister to the park and shopping, well that was mostly for me, but I got her something too. I ate lunch with my mom and my dad, things I use to do before I can down to Memphis. I went and visited my friends that went to school at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. We all hung out and did things while I was down there. I will get pictures of them too when I go back down there. I don’t know why I didn’t take my camera down there with me. Anyway I had fun when I went back home. I left heading back to Memphis around 5 Tuesday afternoon and got here around 8. I unpacked my things and just watched TV for the rest of the day. I had a good fall break overall, but I can’t believe I have been in school for two months already. Overall I am enjoying the University of Memphis, I am glad I made the choice to come here. My next entry will include pictures from what I do in ROTC and other organizations I am in and some of my family. Bye!
