Thanksgiving Break and Finishing Up Classes

The week before Thanksgiving was absolutely brutal. I guess if I had to choose a time for all thirty-eight and a half papers to be dropped on me at one time, it would be when I am about to be out for a week. I had hoped to skip class the entire week of Thanksgiving and take the traditional nine day weekend; as you can see, I am very thankful. However, my professors saw it differently and decided to have all work for the semester due before Thanksgiving. They said it was so they could grade over the holiday but we all know it was so that I would be stressing trying to write a paper on subjects ranging from a community service project to a murder trial that occurred in the 1970s. It was probably a little my fault since we were expected to be working on it throughout the semester. I thought the best idea was to wait until the night before. That was a good idea until I realized they were all due on the same day. Luckily, I was able to get it all completed in time and was stress free for Thanksgiving.

I had expected to sleep late, eat well, lay on the couch, and watch football for Thanksgiving. Not just Thanksgiving day but the entire four-day weekend. It worked for about three hours until my cousin Drew wanted to play basketball so Clint, my younger brother, and I could not resist. On Friday, I took Clint and our friend Blake to Nashville to watch my old high school football team play in the state semifinals. At this point I would like to congragulate the Fayette Academy football team for an excellent season. The Vikings finished the season 10-4 and one game away from a state championship.

After the game, we crashed at a hotel in Nashville for the night. We came back early afternoon on Saturday because we had to pick up Drew and head to Memphis for the Tigers basketball game against Austin Peay. I was happy when all the traveling was over because I was tired of driving and I wanted to get my car back. I had to trade with my mom because my car cannot comfortably carry three people, especially when Clint and Blake are 6'4" and 6'6" respectively. I spent the rest of the weekend catching up with old friends that I have not seen in a while.

Most of my classes have finished with the exception of finals. I spent the last few weeks trying to figure out what I want for Christmas and watching my brother's basketball games. I think a great early-Christmas present would be a trip to New Orleans on December 16. Congratulations to the Memphis football team for their bid to the New Orleans Bowl against North Texas. Good luck to the Tigers as they take on the Mean Green. It will be tough after losing DeAngelo but at least we do have Maurice Avery back from injury. Merry Christmas and I will see you in the Spring.

It looks like Drew was trying to steal my car.
