Okay, so it's been a looooong time since November. But can you blame me? Exams, holidays, then moving back in and trying to regain that routine... it's been tough, but it's also been exciting.
I was glad to get my grades over the break... the suspense was killer, but I did pretty well. Hopefully I can keep it up this semester, as my classes all seem a little harder, with a little more work involved. And, of course, I still must battle the allure of watching seven consecutive hours of VH1 instead of reading my Philosophy assignments.
This semester, I piled on the hours- 19 total, including Faith, Reason and Imagination; Historical Geology/Lab; Philosophy- Classical Issues; Japanese; Oral Communication (with my roommate Angela and fellow diarist Anna-Marie); and Literature.
I am very fortunate that three of my classes are covering similar themes - FRI, Phil, and Lit... makes each subject seem more interesting. Even Geology covers similar ground -- it was strange to be studying Newton in FRI and Geology in the same day!
Although I am a little apprehensive about the extra workload, I am happy that I signed up for the honors section of Historical Geology. Sometime in March the five of us are going on a field trip, although we are not quite sure to where at this point.
But, back to my point, I came to the realization the other day that every subject is connected, no class is truly independent and all knowledge overlaps. Makes learning seem just that much cooler, haha. Yay!
Er... anyway...
Lately, I've spent most of my time (other than going to class and studying!) napping, reading, going to waaaaay too many movies and, of course, working at High Point Coffee. I am also addicted C-Span because of the primaries... how exciting! I don't know what I'd do without the free cable television in the dorms...
Of course it was really nice to catch up with friends over the break, but now they're all back at their respective schools. This semester I am going to try to become more involved in various campus activities, but it is so hard to balance that with a full schedule and nap time!
Later!
Sally
