Geology's Not That Bad After All

MIDTERMS ARE OVER! And I couldn't be happier.  So far, the grades all look pretty much like I wanted them to turn out. Which means that I no longer have a distaste for geology. In fact, I'm looking forward to taking it next semester.

Luckily, in the honors program you can register early so that you can get into the classes you really want.  In my case, I really want to get into this Historical Geology class with a maximum of five students. Whoa! I didn't know there were classes that small.  Hopefully I can get an honors pass for it.  We'll see!

Lately I have noticed that a lot of my classes seem to have similar subject matter.  It is really interesting how that works out... we learn about the geologic time scale in geology, which figures in to the evolution of man in anthropology... and there is a lot of crossover in the world hunger forum and anthropology.  Just an observation, heh.

As I started to get my schedule together for next semester, I realized it was time to take... math.  Ugh.  I knew I would have to do it eventually.  My adviser seemed happy that I am at least attempting to get it out of the way. I'm sure you'll hear all about it next semester, hahaha.

One of the best things about any of my classes so far is the fact that there are so many Japanese people helping out and assisting in my Japanese class. It's great!! Although I am okay at writing, I have a terrible problem with speaking Japanese in conversation... I get nervous and self-conscious.  But now I don't really have a choice because there is so much focus on speaking.  In high school the emphasis was on writing, so I feel like I am becoming a little more well rounded.  I also have gotten to know an exchange student, Yutaka.  My friends and I took him to the zoo, and had a great time looking at the meerkats, snakes, and (of course) the pandas!  I'm so glad that I'm sticking with Japanese. Hopefully I'll get to spend a semester there in my sophomore or junior year.

Ah well... time for more I Love the 80's (strikes back) on VH1.  Later!

Time for a road trip!! If you manage your time during the week well, the weekends can be a lot of fun.

First stop Nashville, then all the way to St. Louis. Too bad we didn't have time to go up the arch... but we saw it!

Time to head back to Memphis, but not before the obligatory Steak and Shake stop.

Mason catches up on the news of the world at the counter.

Okay, the glasses are a little big... time to go home and sleeeeeep.
