Comfortable Routine

Now that I've gotten a comfortable routine together, I've been having a lot of fun.  I've had quizzes, presentations, and tons of homework, but I've had plenty of time for lolling in bed and watching VH1. Of course I've had to learn to balance my job at High Point Coffee with school, and a student job in the administration office. It seems like a lot, but with the help of my iCal calendar on my iBook, I have been able to handle everything so far.

I can't say that I looked forward to getting up at 7am for geology on the Tuesday after the long break, but after I forced myself out of bed, things weren't so bad.  I also finished preparing my presentation for my honors forum on world hunger between morning geology and evening anthropology.

Wednesday was pretty typical, except that we had our first dorm meeting.  Angela and I went with Kim, a friend from White Station who lives across the hall, and met the other people on our floor.  I'm kind of worried about the fine for locking yourself out for your room three times- I could totally see myself doing that!

I was terribly nervous before the presentation on Thursday, but once people started answering my discussion questions, I felt a lot better.  Everyone seems to have grown comfortable with one another very quickly, which is important when expressing such personal opinions on such an important matter.  It is also nice that each person's opinion is completely respected by all, and while this was only our first discussion, we have already touched on some very difficult, controversial topics. Everyone in honors should make room for an honors forum class. It is something to look forward to and get excited about! (Er.... not that I don't look forward to all of my classes... heh)

On Friday, I went to Japanese language lunch for the first time.  Although this is my fifth year of Japanese, I am still really nervous about conversation.  Hopefully I will be able to gain a little confidence with the language by speaking with my peers and the Japanese exchange students and teachers.

This weekend, I worked worked worked!  I was at High Point Coffee (at the corner of Poplar and Perkins Ext'd! coupon in the paper for students!) for over nine hours.  Of course I love working there, but it gets a little boring in the afternoon.  On Saturday night, Angela picked me up from work (she works at that Malco Paradiso movie theater on Poplar), and we went with a group of friends to a few frat parties.  Although it was nothing like the Animal House meets Revenge of the Nerds-esque parties we envisioned, we saw a lot of familiar faces- it seems like everyone from White Station is going to this school!

I started my new job in the administration building, and everyone there is so nice.  It is really convenient to have a job on campus, especially if you are careless like me.  (Let's just say that I had some bad luck with my previous cars...) Hopefully I will save up enough money to get another one eventually. But for now, my situation couldn't be better.  Classes and work are just a five minute walk away!

Well, I have another early morning tomorrow (ugh!) so that's it for this week. : )   I promise to have more pictures soon!

Later!
