Students in the Department of Journalism at the University of Memphis work toward careers in public relations, newspapers and magazines, advertising, broadcast news and Internet journalism.
The department has one of the nation's finest journalism education facilities. Students in the program have the opportunity to work on Insight, a local cable television news program, and The Daily Helmsman, the University's student-run newspaper.
Faculty in the department are committed to training journalists with a broad understanding of our diverse community. We offer bachelor's and master's degrees and an online master's program that was one of the first in the nation.
The department consistently places more than 75 percent of graduates in the journalism profession and is nationally recognized for having a public relations program ranked among America's top 25.
