New members of NPHC are selected by member organizations through the Member Intake Process (MIP) based on specific qualifications and criteria. On our campus, MIP may not last longer than six weeks. NPHC chapters are guided by membership identification and selection standards that promote the development of effective chapters.

    • Pre-induction / orientation period (interest tea or meeting)
    • Final induction ceremony (initiation)
    • Education program

The University of Memphis requires all prospective members to attend an Intake Seminar held in September and January of each semester. This seminar is designed to educate new members about joining NPHC organizations, anti-hazing policies on all levels (local, state, and nationals), the new intake membership process, application and interview tips, plus much, much more.

For more information on Intake Seminars, please call (901) 678-8679.

What has Greek life taught you about friendship and being a friend/brother/sister?

"I have learned a lot about true friendship since I joined my chapter one year ago. The more time I spend with each sister I have seen that if I open myself up to the opportunity, they each have some special wisdom to impart to me. I never would have been able to see this had I not gone Greek."
