First Tennessee Small Business Center (Memphis/Shelby County Public Library)
Outstanding site. The Small Business Center at the Public Library has been a valuable community resource for years. Now the information is even better as hot links guide you to local and state resources. Particularly valuable is the directory created by the librarians, Where to Go for Small Business Information in Memphis and Shelby County. The list of small business resources can be accessed by agency or subject and entries provide information on type of help offered, any associated costs or requirements, and contacts. This small business guide should be a model for all cities.

Minority Business Development Agency
An agency of the Department of Commerce, the MBDA provides access to public/private debt and equity financing.

Tennessee Small Business Development Center
SBDCs provide one on one counseling for management and technical business problems. This site contains locations of SBDCs throughout the State and information about the service of the local International Trade Center among other helpful things. A training and education calendar for the year is a great service.

Women's Business Center
Partnership of SBA's Office of Women's Business Ownership and SBA's Women's Business Centers. The site offers extensive information on starting, running, managing, expanding a business. Although the focus is women, most of the information is generic. Men will find the site just as useful.
