REQUIRED GRADUATION FORMS
1. Graduation Application ("Apply to Graduate"):
Visit your MyMemphis portal at: https://my.memphis.edu/cp/home/displaylogin
Click on the MyDegree tab to locate the Commencement and Graduation channel to access the application. Follow the prescribed steps listed below:
- Carefully review the Prerequisites to Graduate (Step 1)
- Click on Apply to Graduate (Step 2) to complete the application.
- After the application has been completed, proceed to the Diploma Mailing/Cap and Gown form (Step 3). You must complete both the Diploma Mailing/Cap and Gown form, even if you do not plan to attend
graduation exercises.
- Students who are only completing a graduate certificate are not allowed to participate
in graduation exercises; therefore, there will be no access to the Cap and Gown portion
of this application.
- The Commencement Office will provide an Attendance Card (Step 4) for you to complete if you do plan to attend graduation.
- Once your application has been completed, click View Application to Graduate.
- If you need to make any changes to your application, proceed to Step 3 only. Do not begin at Step 1. You will receive an error message indicating "No curricula available."
Once you have completed the graduation application, your next step is to complete
a degree candidacy form. Submit the completed form to your departmental advisor (not
to Graduate School or your departmental office) for internal processing. Since signatures
must be obtained, this form cannot be submitted electronically (EXCEPTION: Master's students in the Fogelman College of Business and Economics may submit electronically.
See message in item 2 below). Links to all other necessary graduation forms are listedbelow.
Both the graduation application and degree candidacy form must be submitted by the
specified deadlines listed below. Failure to complete one or both items will delay
your graduation until the next semester.
2. Master's Degree Candidacy Form (click "here" for instructions).
For Fogelman College of Business and Economics Master's Students Only -- After completing the graduation application, proceed to the following web site to review deadlines and to obtain the necessary link for completing and submitting
the Master's Degree Candidacy Form to the FCBE server and database.
3. Doctoral Degree Candidacy Form (click "here" for instructions). 4. Graduate Certificate Program Candidacy Form 5. Course Substitution Form (Attach to candidacy form, if needed.)

University email accounts only. No written correspondence will be sent via U.S. mail.
Please check your university account periodically throughout the semester.
Before graduate students can be officially admitted to degree candidacy, they must
satisfy the following requirements:
a. Students completing masters, doctoral, or certificate programs must "Apply to
Graduate" by the deadline (see table below for deadlines) in the semester all requirements
will be completed. Master's and doctoral students must also submit the appropriate Degree Candidacy form to their respective College Director of Graduate Studies (see table below for deadlines). Please read the instructions carefully for completing these forms.
- Candidacy forms received by the College Director of Graduate Studies after the stated
deadline will not be approved or forwarded to the Graduate School for processing;
therefore, we strongly recommend that you submit the candidacy form to your department advisor
at least one to two weeks prior to the college directors' deadline.
b. Students completing a graduate certificate program are also required to Apply
to Graduate and to submit a Graduate Certificate Candidacy form to their respective College Director of Graduate Studies by the deadline listed below.
- NOTE: Students completing a graduate certificate program must be officially admitted
to the program in order to receive one. If you are not admitted, please submit a Change of Status application to Graduate Admissions (Wilder Tower 200) immediately. You will not be
able to submit your graduation application until you are admitted.
c. Students completing an Education Specialist degree may substitute the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences Education Specialist Program of Studies
