The solution to all of these problems lies in GREEN POWER, also known as clean or renewable energy. Most of our energy in the Southeast is produced by burning coal. Unfortunately, this process releases greenhouse gases and other toxins into the atmosphere, thereby increasing the pollution in the air we breathe everyday. GREEN POWER, on the other hand, can be produced in several different environmentally friendly ways. Two of the most common forms of green energy are wind and solar power.

The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has harnessed the electricity produced by wind turbines and solar panels and has made it available to purchase. By supporting the production of these and other GREEN POWERs, we are paving the road to a clean and healthy energy future!

GREEN POWER will not only preserve the natural world and save our health - it also has long-lasting economic benefits over coal and other dirty energy practices.

  • First off, it is attainable. Most places in the world receive sunlight and any location that is at a high enough altitude has strong, sustained winds. In other words, GREEN POWER is everywhere!
  • Secondly, it is renewable. Unlike coal and other fossil fuels, it will be a very long time before the sun "runs out" ...and you can pretty much guarantee that as long as there is a planet Earth the winds will buffet the high hills.

GREEN POWER, therefore, is limitless in its possibilities and lifespan.
