Welcome From Interim Dean Eugene Eckstein
Welcome to the Herff College of Engineering at the University of Memphis.
Our College of Engineering offers you the best of both worlds: a small college of
about 1,000 students within a large, metropolitan research university.
Since opening in 1966, Herff College has developed a reputation for excellent classroom
instruction and alumni who make outstanding contributions to the engineering profession.
Now there are more than 7,500 alumni employed worldwide; some of their successes appear
in Alumni Profiles and others come out monthly in Herff Headlines.
Over 50 dedicated faculty members with outstanding academic and professional credentials
comprise the College enabling us to offer a variety of graduate and undergraduate degree programs. All undergraduate programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission or the Technology Accreditation Commission
of ABET, Inc., the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in
applied science, computing, engineering, and technology (http://www.abet.org). Accreditation ensures the quality of the education our students receive, and this
is important to job placement and the ability to compete for the best engineering
jobs.
As you are searching for a place to obtain an exceptional education that will prepare
you for a lifetime of work bringing technology or the fruits of technology to people,
please spend some time with us, whether that is visiting or reviewing this site. You
will learn about our nearly 20 degree programs and many exciting activities and services
that enrich or ease the path to an engineering degree. I hope you enjoy your visit
and will come back often.
